The Road to Persecution

It has been said, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” but the same can be said about “the road to persecution”.  No-one wakes up one day and says to themselves, “Today I think I’ll pick a group of people to persecute.”  Persecution is at the end of a road that often starts out with the best of intentions.

It is hard to imagine persecution of Christians in America, but the reality of history is that Christianity has been persecuted throughout history in all nations of the world.  Already those who publicly acknowledge what the Word of God teaches about the inherent wickedness of all mankind, Jesus being the only way to heaven, the sinfulness of sexual promiscuity and homosexuality, or the reality of creation – are insulted, prosecuted, and put their livelihoods at risk.  There is coming a day when their freedom and lives will also be put at risk.

Follow the progress of Romans 1:18-32.  Once God stops being acknowledged as creator, the creation becomes the focus of our adoration.  Our thinking becomes distorted to the point that even our sexuality becomes confused.  Ultimately everything moral is turned upside down and those who have an absolute source of truth (i.e. God and God’s Word) becomes the enemy.  And it all starts with the rejection of creation.

One of the most chilling book titles in recent years was our “almost next president” Hillary Clinton’s, It Takes a Village.  This 1996 book spent three weeks at number one on the New York Times best seller list. The book’s  bottom line, philosophically speaking, is that children do not belong to God nor are they the responsibility of parents, but actually belong to the state, i.e. a community of people (with whatever morals and views of reality which the ones in charge decide upon.)

As generation after generation endures a public education system that leaves God out of their thinking and superficially seems to explain everything in creation without God, this becomes reality in their minds.  One of the fastest growing demographic groups in America is now atheists.  Following their beliefs to a logical conclusion…if evolution is reality, then those misled parents who continue to teach their children about creation are actually harming and deceiving the children of the next generation.  For the convinced evolutionist, atheist, or relativist, the kindest thing they can do is to prevent an increasing minority of citizens (Christians) from deceiving children with fantasies like biblical creation.

The persecution of Christians in America is not very far down the road we are traveling.

    Excellent article.

Having fought and lost the battle to have truthful science taught in “public” schools, as a retired teacher and unequivocally proclaim that there is no hope for America as long as Christians and conservatives allow our children to be indoctrinated in the pagan (a.k.a. “public”) schools. Well said, and very accurate Bruce. It’s just a little hard to hear because the verbal and emotional persecutions of the present time are already difficult on me, and kinda like you said, the physical persecution of Christians in America is not very far down the road we are traveling.
